A St Catherine man who allegedly disarmed a policeman in Portmore, St Catherine, was shot and killed yesterday after he allegedly challenged other cops.

Dead is Ramon Williams, a 25-year-old unemployed man of no fixed address.
Reports are that the police went to investigate a case of burglary when Williams was spotted and chased by a member of the party.

He is alleged to have disarmed the policeman of his service pistol which he used to beat him in his face. The cop is said to have managed to escape from the enraged Williams.

A search was launched for Williams and when he was accosted, he reportedly brandished a gun. He was shot and injured, the gun retrieved and found to be the one earlier stolen from their colleague.

Williams was later pronounced dead from injuries received. The Independent Commission of Investigations have since launched a probe.
