Published: 2015-08-04 15:43:17

The police a short while ago confirmed that one of its members, a constable, was shot and injured during a robbery in Scotts Pass, Clarendon yesterday.

Reports are that about 10:50 p.m., the constable was on his way home with a relative from the airport when they stopped at location in the area. While there, two men, one armed with a firearm entered and proceeded to rob them and then opened fire hitting the officer. The men fled the scene.

He was then taken to hospital where he is admitted in serious but stable condition.

Commissioner of police Dr. Carl Williams is expressing outrage that hoodlums with no regard for life and property have once again threatened the life of another member of the JCF.

He is encouraging members not to become daunted and pledges his support to the family of the injured Constable as well as the men and women of the JCF. The Chaplaincy and Community Safety and Security Branches have been assigned to the family to offer support.

The police are appealing to witnesses to come forward and tell what they know so that these criminals can be brought to justice. Anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigations is being asked to call Crime Stop at 311 or 811, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
