A trial date of July 18 was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, after a man, who is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and cruelty to child, pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against him.

He is Clive Morris and was ordered to give his fingerprints to the police.

The court heard that Morris used a piece of hose to hit the complainant, his stepdaughter, over her body and face causing several abrasions.

After he pleaded not guilty, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told Morris to bring any witnesses with him on his return to court.
