Last Friday, a Jamaican man was found guilty of attempted murder in the Superior Court of Justice in Windsor, Canada.

He's Roger Renaldo Williams who was on trial for the 2006 shooting of Tracey Marcoux.

It is reported that along with the attempted murder charge, Justice Scott Campbell found Williams, a Jamaican national living illegally in Canada at the time of the offence, guilty of unlawful confinement, uttering a threat and using a firearm in an offence.

It is reported that Campbell found Williams not guilty of pointing a firearm at another man, Denis Mantha, during the crime.

Mantha testified during the two-week trial that he saw Williams barge into the home when Marcoux jumped up in a non-threatening manner with his hands up.

Marcoux reportedly said, "Nobody is going to get shot here." Then he saw the gun go off.

Outside the courtroom, Marcoux, now 47, said he appreciates the verdict, but nothing can bring back what he has lost.

Marcoux said he is already looking ahead to a sentencing hearing on June 25.

Attempted murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
