Everton Tomlinson, interim coach of Savannah Sports Club, is hoping that the inclusion of a number of new players on the roster will resurrect good fortune for his struggling Red Stripe Premier League team.

Tomlinson said the signings will be made public in coming days, adding that they will be ready to hit the ground running in their drive to stave off relegation at the point-starved club, which is lingering last in the 12-team standings.

One of the big issues impeding the club is its wafer-thin contingent of quality strikers, with only Shane Anderson able to score more than once entering 2013. He has two goals to be Savannah's best in the first half of the season.

"What needs to be done is a total transformation, as I am not convinced we have enough ammunition to compete in the Premier League,"said Tomlinson.

"Our programme is in serious need of revamping and as a result I have met with the club to fully engage these issues and hope that fresh players will infuse a winning attitude among the squad."

Savannah, apart from being the worst performing club in the league in all important areas of the game, including goals scored, goals conceded and shots at goal, have not won a single match since defeating Harbour View 1-0 early in the season.

Interestingly, that victory over Harbour View was their third successive win, as they have also taken full points from defending champions Portmore United and Arnett Gardens, for an opening three-match spell.

Portmore, Arnett and Harbour View have since returned the favour, with wins over Savannah in subsequent rounds and all have gone on, while the Westmoreland-based club has hit the wall flush and continue to struggle.

"Winning our first couple of games in the New Year would be huge for the club. It would give us back that winning feeling and perhaps would help pull the players out of the slump, giving us a better chance of escaping relegation" said Tomlinson.

Arnett Gardens will be visitors at Frome Sports Complex against Savannah when the league resumes on Sunday, January 6, and Tomlinson believes his team holds the edge.
