A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Damion Buddington, the main suspect in the 2012 murder of Tayon Colomathi, after he failed to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Buddington, from Negril, West-moreland, was out on $350,000 bail in connection with the shooting death of Colomathi, the son of politician Donald Colomathi, on January 15, 2012.

The younger Colomathi was shot dead by gunmen in Hampton, St James, following a political meeting held by his father in the same community.

When Buddington's case was mentioned on Wednesday, it was discovered that he had not shown up in the Western Regional Gun Court despite being scheduled to appear there, and neither he nor his surety responded to their names being called by the court.

Consequently, Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small ordered a bench warrant for Buddington's arrest.
