Young Boyz booted by Mexico - World Cup dream ends with 4-0 thrashing

PUEBLA, Mexico (CMC):

Jamaica crashed out of the quarter final of the CONCACAF under-20 Championship after going under 0-4 to hosts Mexico on Wednesday night.

The result of the game, at the Estadio Cuauahtemoc, also dashes the young Reggae Boyz hopes of advancing to the finals of the FIFA World Cup.

Mexico led two-nil at the interval and found the Jamaican net twice again in the latter stages of the game.

Jamaican found the going tough and seemed no match for the Mexicans in front of a packed stadium with about 50,000 cheering fans.

Mexico began troubling the Jamaican defence as early as the eighth minute through a free kick, which landed in the six-yard box, resulting in a mad scramble to get it clear.

It took Jamaica until the 28th minute to penetrate the Mexican defence as Omar Holness surged down the right flank and found Andre Lewis, who in turn crossed to Kendon Anderson who mistimed his shot.

Despite having far less possession, the Jamaicans were not being overrun, and in the 33rd minute a Holness free kick caused some panic in the Mexican defence.

Three minutes later Lewis cut inside and tested goalkeeper Richard Sanchez with a left-footer, which the custodian held comfortably.

Jamaica conceded their first two goals in the 12th and 43rd minutes of play after Armando Zamorano and Marco Bueno found the nets.

Free kicks from Francisco Flores and Jesus Escoboza, in the 69th and 75th minutes, added to the tally.
