Jac Saavige's 'Lord Jesus Save Me' gets good airplay |
|||||
Jac Saavige - Contributed It is not often that a man named Jac Saavige releases a gospel song, but this young rookie deejay is no ordinary, garden-variety artiste. He has the ability to take any topic and twist it into a song with his incredible wordplay skills. Just listen to the deejay's latest single, the gospel-tinged Lord Jesus Save Me which is getting mad props in dancehalls and on FM radio, and you will understand. "Lord Jesus Save Me has been incredibly well, it have a gospel reggae feel that the old, the young, the Christians, the 'worldlians', everybody love it. I did an interview on Nationwide and people call in a praise me for the delivery and content of the song, and when I did RJR the following week, I got more praise, only thing people were saying that the Saavige name is not appropriate with gospel. but it doesn't matter, all that matters is the message," he said. Born He fell in love with music and began to write and record singles until he came to the attention of his current road manager, Julian 'Chakka Dawg' Toyser, and Errol 'Bossie' Smith, the chief executive officer of Celebrity Records, who immediately inked him a recording deal. Since he has been signed to Celebrity Records, the artiste has been locked away in the studio cranking out new singles. One of those singles is the booty-bouncing jeep rocker Summer Bell, on the Summer Bell rhythm. The single is being played on IRIE, ZIP, LINKS and HITZ FM. "I plan to do a video for Summer Bell soon and crank up the promotion right in time for this year's summer parties," he said. Other singles to look out for are Mama, Ungrateful and the belly-hugging Jerk Chicken Neck. "We are getting great feedback on Jerk Chicken Neck, ah it a run Mandeville right now. The slang, the dance and the song ah lock down Mandeville town, every hype crew know the Jerk Chicken Neck song, dem a do the dance, dem a endorse it. Is like a gimmick, but it tek on a life of its own down inna Mandeville," Saavige said. He performed on GT Taylor Xtravaganza last year, and he is booked to appear on Gary G's Kite Fest next month. He has a show in Newmarket , St Elizabeth tonight on DJ Ahzid's Birthday Bash, and he has solidified a decent underground following in central Jamaica. His management and bookings are handled by Celebrity Records and he can be contacted in the US at 1-347-530-8297/1-347-255-8110; JA at 1-876-577-1583. You can check him online at Facebook: jac.saavige@facebook.com, and Twitter: @jacsaavige. Jac Saavige is aware that there is another artiste in the business called Savage who hails from Grants Pen, but he is not worried at all by that revelation. "Respect to him, he is a good artiste, but ah mi ah the realest Saavige, my name spell different, my flow different, ah me the people dem ah go memba," he said. |
