The appeal by champion jockey Dane Nelson against a 10-day suspension and $10,000 fine imposed by the stewards some weeks ago has been postponed yet again.

The hearing, which should have been held yesterday before the full commission, has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 21 at the Winchester Road offices of the commission.

Nelson was slapped with the suspension and fine for his failure to ride highly fancied HOGANS HERO on its merit in the sixth race at Caymanas Park on January 5. HOGANS HERO was beaten a short head by the 4-5 favourite SOCIAL BUTTERFLY over 1600 metres in the race in question and Nelson's suspension should have taken effect on February 16. However, he served notice of appeal.

According to a JRC source, the hearing commenced shortly after 11 a.m. at the commission but had to be adjourned owing to the time taken up by a previous meeting.

Nelson was present with his attorney, Douglas Thompson, while among those present to support the jockey were Jockeys' Guild president Du'von Litchmore and executive member Gary Santos, along with trainer Richard Todd and retired Hall of Fame jockey Charles Hussey.
