The grounds of the Power of Faith Ministries in Portmore, St Catherine, were filled to capacity as persons turned out to pay their last respects to the late Portmore mayor, George Lee, Thursday.

The occasion saw political and elected representatives from both sides of the political divide giving glowing tributes to the life of Jamaica's first elected mayor.

Lee was called a visionary for Portmore, an intellect, a politician, and a renown communicator whose journalism skills helped to cross all political boundaries.

The farewell saw business, civic, clergy, political, health, and all sectors of life expressing fulsome praise for the life led by the great mayor, who passed away three weeks ago in the United States of America.

Lee's body was interred at the Dovecot Memorial Gardens, also in the parish.

The only disappointment was the unavailability of free transportation to take well-wishers to Lee's final resting place. this left persons fuming in the bright mid-afternoon sun.
