Pleading not guilty to unlawful wounding charges is a 47-year-old man from Denham Town, Kingston.

It is alleged that on December 3, 2013, the accused used an electrical wire to hit his son in his back and head resulting in swelling and bruising, over a football his son was accused of stealing from his school.

When Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked for the complainant, the father responded. "He's at school. I didn't make him come because I don't like when he misses school."

His response angered the senior magistrate who stated, "wonder if you know what you are doing? I hope you're not interfering with the witness."

The accused, in an effort to gain sympathy from the judge, stated that his son's mother died tragically during the Tivoli Gardens incursion and so his son has been in his care since then.

RM Pusey ordered that the complainant be brought to court to determine if it is safe to live with his father. They return to court on April 11.
