Wolmer's, Eltham for JIIC knockout final

Eltham High and Wolmer's earned the right to contest the final of the urban area ISSA/JIIC Knockout after registering impressive wins over St Catherine and St Jago, respectively, on Tuesday.

Eltham, the GraceKennedy Shield league champions, scored a 50-run win over St Catherine, while Wolmer's, the dethroned Grace Shield champions, got the better of St Jago by 43 runs.

At St Catherine, Eltham batted first and were restricted to 122, with Shane Cole topscoring with 33 and Jevel Innis getting 28, this was against Aldane Muntle, three for 15, and Krison Givons, two for 10.

St Catherine, in their reply, were then bundled out for 72.

Leading the charge for the victors were Cole, who bagged four for 12, and Shaquille Brown, who took three for 16.

Davoney Morgan, 19, emerged as the losers top scorer.

At Monk Street, Wolmer's batted first to post 187, on the back of 71 from Hodane Bryce. He was best supported by Malik Thompson, who made 19. Andre Fowler with five for 28 and Dillon Foster two for 40 did the most damage with the ball.

St Jago, in their response, were bowled out for 44, with national Under-19 pacer Malcolm White spearheading charge with five for 26.

Suwayne Morrison, two for 23, and Amir Dalley, two for 32, also got in the mix against Sachin Taylor 24 and Sanjay Clunis.

The final is set for Tuesday at Melbourne Oval.
