You may have already heard Jigsy King's latest single blowing up on FM radio so you know that the man known for the street anthems, such as Rail Up and Butterfly, is back and in full effect.

His latest song, Gal Ah Mad Ova Me, appears on the Cannonball rhythm for the Masterbling Recording imprint.

"Ah murder, the song ah go hard pon the radio and we just start the real promotion in the streets. It kick off wicked at Mojito Mondays and Uptown Mondays with Boom Boom the other night, so it's a great look so far," he said.

King emerged in the early 1990s, and his gruff vocal style, similar to Buju Banton's, made him a big hit with sound systems of that era.He scored international success with Work, a combination single with Barrington Levy. He topped the Jamaican singles chart in 1996 with Sweet Sensimella, a duet with British singer Jamie Irie.

"I had a really good run in the music business because of the support of my friends; my wife, Misha Winter-King; and because I never tried to fight artistes and I respected musicians. You cannot feel music without the musicians; dem haffi inna di ting fi mek it work," Jigsy King said.

He implored radio broadcasters to make a more concerted effort to break new acts.

"Today, it seems like there is barely any space for young artistes. The selectors ah play fi get a forward, so young artistes don't get much play and the radio disc jockeys dem a play fi a forward too, so the young artistes get stifled. At the same time, I am asking the young artistes to make good music. If I didn't make good music, I wouldn't be relevant today," he said.
