Willy P - Contributed

Dancehall/reggae artiste Willy P is a versatile entertainer who is versed in the art of music production and beat making, and he is also a professional mixing engineer.

Willy P has an affinity with music that began very early in his childhood. From as early as age 10, he would sneak out of his home at night to attend dances. The more he attended these events, the more he found himself being drawn to the music biz.

"I've always loved music from as early as I can remember. I can remember watching a lot of deejays and singers performing and saying to myself that I want to be just like them when I grow up. It was like the music was just pulling me in, the vibes was so strong," he said.

growing up

Like most youngsters who love music in Jamaica, he was a member of a church choir while growing up. He also performed for his friends at school, beating the desk and singing.

Willy P, whose real name is Dwane Everton Williams, has come a long way musically since those early days. In 2006, he joined forces with his older brother, Leon Williams, to create Hardway Records.

The following year, along with his brother and a friend (Winston Haughton), he launched the Hardway band which also comprises four other musicians. Working with the band, Willy P has done numerous performances in the UK. He has also recorded and released a number of tracks.

Willy P is currently promoting a brand-new single titled All Night, on the Hardway imprint.

"I'm getting a lot of positive feedback about this song, it's getting pretty good airplay in the UK and some other places. I'm also promoting it in Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean."

Willy P is also working on a number of new tracks with legendary British reggae musicians/producers Mafia and Fluxy.
