Sunderland shock Man City

The Premier League trophy could be out of reach for Manchester City after a 2-2 home draw with last-place Sunderland yesterday that capped a demoralising four days for the title chasers.

Samir Nasri's late equaliser at Etihad Stadium will be of little consolation to City, who are now a distant third favourite in the title race with the team lying six points behind league leaders Liverpool and four points off second-place Chelsea.

City have a game in hand but this surprise result, coupled with Sunday's 3-2 loss at Liverpool, may be a setback too far.

In the race for the final Champions League spot, Everton also slipped up at home in losing 3-2 to Crystal Palace to miss the chance of reclaiming fourth place from Arsenal.
