Court hears ... Hot oil used to burn 65-y-o man

A heated dispute between a woman and her elderly spouse resulted in her being hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm is Tamika Brown. The accused woman was fingerprinted when she appeared in court.

Allegations are that a dispute developed between Brown and her 65-year-old spouse after she allegedly removed a substantive amount of money from his briefcase. It is understood that during the incident the man was burnt with hot oil on parts of his body.

It was further revealed that Brown had made a domestic abuse report to the police.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey urged the police to take matters of domestic abuse seriously by investigating them.

Bail was offered to Brown in the sum of $150,000. The matter is to return to court on May 16.
