Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben is convinced that Holland teammate Wesley Sneijder will be key to the team's World Cup chances in Brazil this summer.

Sneijder has been less of a part of Holland coach Louis van Gaal's plans since moving to Turkish club Galatasary, despite having a decent return for the outfit thus far this season.

"Wesley Sneijder is a very important player. I have already said this before and it's not a secret how I feel about Wesley," Robben said recently.

van Gaal has claimed that the 29-year-old's spot for the tournament was in jeopardy. Robben who played with Sneijder as one of the stars of the tournament in the 2010 final, could still play a crucial role.

Something extra

"When he plays at his own level and is fully match fit, which he is now, Wesley is a player who brings something extra. You need that at a World Cup.

"Wesley is an extraordinary player when he's at his best and we have to take advantage of that.

Sneijder has netted 14 times in 36 appearances this season, but has seen his team currently languish in third place behind Besiktas and Fenerbahce. In the Champion's League the team were eliminated at the round-of-16 stage by English League team Chelsea.

Sneijder has made 97 appearances for Netherlands so far, scoring 26 goals in the process.
