With a strong female presence and high- energy music, the birthday celebration for Kurt Riley definitely lived up to expectations at V Club in Portmore, St Catherine, last Thursday.

The event was called 'Animal Instinct' and saw Smirnoff collaborating with the DJ to deliver good liquor and music to energetic patrons from as early as 10 p.m.

It might have been Kurt Riley's party. However, the night belonged to the women, they received flattering comments from the DJs whenever they moved their bodies, and they danced to every genre and era of music played.

Some lively performances by Sunjock Mario, DJ Santana, DJ Cutty, and Coppershot added to the successful outcome of the party.

The very responsive audience reacted positively to '90s dancehall hits from Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Frisco Kid, Buju Banton, and Spragga Benz. Man of the moment, Kurt Riley, seemed pleased with the proceedings and was seen making rounds to the DJ booth where he appeared to express satisfaction with the juggling.

"Because she want brown pickney she guh deh wid brown man, and as she get pregnant, brown man gone leave har," DJ Santana said and played Mr Lexx's Good Hole, which got strong audience response.

The DJ also played Heads High by Mr Vegas, which is a known anti-oral sex song. He then counteracted it with Throat by Gage, while stating that things have changed over time. The ladies responded positively nonetheless.

During Coppershot's segment, songs like Pon Di Riva by Elephant Man, Roll It by Allison Hinds and the Overproof rhythm had patrons in a frenzy. The event was also supported by dancehall duo Voicemail.
