Thirty-two girls advanced to the next round after last Friday's elimination show and after party in the Lasco/Curves Miss Teen Portmore Scholarship pageant atop the roof of the Portmore Pines Plaza, St Catherine.

Seventy girls paraded for screaming fans, and the number was cut below half. The girls will be presented to their respective sponsors at a later date.

The reigning Miss Teen Portmore, Shanon Johnson, delighted the crowd with the emotional rendition of All Of Me by John Legend.

The girls will also be touring sections of the island. They are expected to make stops at theInstitute of Jamaica, National Gallery, the Marcus Garvey Museum, the Hear The Children's Cry monument located in downtown Kingston, a trip to Ocho Rios, and a number of courtesy calls.

The pageant deals primarily with the contestants' knowledge of current affairs, Jamaican culture, and history. It aims to assist the personal development of young ladies through grooming sessions, public speaking, and social development. It also contributes to their educational development.

One major criterion is for applicants to have at least a C+ average, as the organisers promote educational growth and vision for teens. The girls must be between the ages of 14 and 17 years and must exhibit a talent. The Grand Coronation Show is scheduled for next month.
