Motivation is regarded as an essential commodity of organisations, because it aids production and improves one's self-image. One of the means of achieving such results is to treat employers or clients with respect and let them feel a sense of belonging to the organisation.

As was seen in a recent Star interview, these facts have not been lost on Kemoy Chambers, a grade-two teacher at Pollyground Primary School in St Catherine.

"I treat my students equally and let them see each other as equals," she declared.

She also revealed that her class of 37 students (now on summer break) consisted of a set of enthusiastic individuals who were performing above their grade level and who were well prepared for the next grade. These were the objectives set out in her action plan.

Chambers was trained in early- childhood education at Shortwood Teachers' College in St Andrew (teacher's diploma and bachelor's degree). She is also the holder of a master's degree in educational leadership from Central Connecticut University in the United States.

She is much involved in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of her school. These include being responsible for the operation and management of the tuck shop, grade coordinator, and an organiser of the 4-H club.
