53-YEAR-OLD MAN WANTS CHILD - Requesting DNA to prove paternity

André Williams, STAR Writer

Fifty-three-year-old mechanic Michael Wallace believes so much that a child given to his lover's previous partner is his, he has requested that the child's mother, Samantha Johnson, 43, enter THE STAR paternity feature.

Wallace, in seeking the truth, is hoping to lay to rest any form of argument others may have, suggesting that he is unable to bring forth a child at his age.

Johnson and Wallace are still together today, having met each other sometime ago in a community where they were both employed.

Although some doubts surround the paternity of the one-year-old girl, Wallace is steadfast in ensuring she gets the best care whatever the DNA results may be.

Wallace said: "Yea, man, we are in a relationship same way, we still together, even though she don't live with me."

Johnson said: "Yes, we are still in a relationship."

Both had the same expectations for the results.

Wallace said: "Mi just want the pickney ina my name, mi want her to be mine."

Johnson said: "Mi want it to be his (Wallace) own, cause him tek care of her."

When asked what would happen after the results are revealed, Wallace said: "If she is not my child, then it's no problem, enuh, because me know a my own. If a nuh so a so, because me still a tek care of her. If the results say she is mine, mi woulda glad and continue to take care of her."

Johnson said: "If is not his own then a nuh nothing. Him will still take care of her. And if the results say the child is his, then I would change her name ... we agree to it already."

THE STAR was told that the child is not registered in Wallace's name, to which he said, "I not sure whose name she is in, because from a nuh my name, me never too business."

According to Wallace, Johnson is the doubtful one in the equation. "A she have doubts, because she do things behind my back and never mek mi know. When mi find out, mi request of her that we do a test."

Johnson said: "Mi have doubts because mi daughter have more looks inna her for Wallace than my first babyfather. The three I had before with my babyfather look like him, but my daughter now don't look like him. She look like Wallace."

Both told THE STAR that the community knows about their dilemma.

Johnson said: "One time me and my sibling had an argument and dem bawl out mi business and people hear."

Wallace said: "Yes, everybody know, everyone ina di community know about it."

Johnson and Wallace agreed that the child in question resembles him.
