Men accused of stealing oranges freed
Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

Three men who were held with several bags of oranges suspected to be stolen, were freed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court Tuesday after they were tried for unlawful possession of property.

They are Valentine Riley, Garfield Bryce, and Ramon Rhule, all from St Catherine.

The men were defended by attorneys-at-law Lancelot Clarke Jr, Zhara Lewis and Michelle Cousins.

Resident Magistrate Maxine Ellis said that she was satisfied with the evidence given by Riley as to how he came into possession of the oranges.

The Crown led evidence that, on February 2, 2013, police saw a truck with bags of oranges at the Coronation Market in Kingston.

Enquiries were made and Riley said he was the owner. He said he contracted Bryce to take the citrus from Bog Walk to Kingston with Rhule as the side man.

He reportedly failed to produce a receipt to show how he got the oranges and all three were charged.
