Star Tell Me Pastor

Putting up with slackness
Dear Pastor,

You are putting up with too much slackness from some of these women. If a woman tries to beat a man, he should give her a thrashing that should last her a lifetime. Is he her child? Would you laugh if it was the man beating the woman? I hope you know the man would be well within his right if he draws a bottle and bursts her head if she first draws a cutlass at him.

I hope one of these days a woman would draw her cutlass and beat your ass. Then it would be my turn to laugh. You are a bad example and a disgrace. You should be ashamed of yourself.

A.M

Dear A.M.,

If anybody should be ashamed, it is you. You should be ashamed to suggest that a man should give his wife such a beating she would never forget it for a lifetime. Are you a real man or do you just claim to be one? It is natural for a woman to react after hearing her husband has done something very bad. Sometimes she throws blows at him.

Yes, some women have beaten men but why would you advocate that even if a woman throws the first blow, the man has the right to beat her? She doesn't have the right to hit him, neither does he have the right to beat her. Where do you get the idea that a man has the right to beat a woman if she hits him first?

I think I know why you believe you have the right. It is simple, you think that, as a man, you are her boss and you control her and whatever you say goes. If she hits you, she is disrespecting you and your authority. So, let me ask you this question, "when you hit her, aren't you disrespecting her? By hitting her, you are disciplining her but who disciplines you? Well, I can tell you who should discipline you. It should be the judge in the court of the land. A judge should throw you in prison for a long time.

I am not naïve. I know some women have tempted men, have challenged men but men, must learn to control themselves and not overreact. You are hoping one day a woman will beat me because I laughed when a woman told me she had beaten her man. I didn't tell the lady that she had a right to beat her man, but, think about it, if a man cannot defend himself if his woman attempts to beat him, he is a 'chicken' and anybody would certainly laugh at him.
