There will be two major food festivals in Ocho Rios over the holiday period.

The annual Ocho Rios Seafood Festival will take place at a new venue this year, as it will be staged at White River Reggae Park on Sunday, August 3.

Then on Wednesday, August 6, the St Ann Jerk Festival takes place at Turtle River Park.

The Ocho Rios Seafood Festival, sponsored by Digicel, is being staged by Ocho Rios Seafood in association with Ocho Rios College and will feature a wide variety of seafood prepared in various ways. Fish, conch, shrimp, lobster and other seafood will be available.

The entertainment package includes dancehall artistes Popcaan, Venomous and Black Rhyno, with music by Solid Rock. For the children, there will be a kiddies village that will feature face painting and other activities. There will also be free back-to-school supplies for kids.

For the lovers of jerk, the St Ann Jerk Festival on Independence Day will feature a wide variety of jerked meats including fish, chicken, pork, conch, shrimp and others.

The show will feature kumina, bruckins, kiddies corner and many more activities.

The event will be hosted by ZJ Liquid and will feature artists such as Aidonia, Charly Black, Laden, Zamunda, Denique, Zagga and Zamunda.

Portmore Society is aiming to maintain an exotic culture for their event IMAGE, which will be held for the second year as a part of the Rum-Bar Flex Week package.

The highly anticipated event will be held at Boardwalk beach in Portmore, St Catherine on the 5th of August and is expected to commence at 8 p.m. and concludes at 2 a.m.

Member of the promotions team, Luigi, says IMAGE is now a culture. He also explained why this year's theme is unique.

"The event's concept is 'The Culture'. Culture is defined as the ideas, customs and social behaviour of a particular people or society. Image 'The Culture' is that new emerging party culture including fashion and social media - a way of living and enjoying life.

We have opted for a more intimate venue, which will allow the patrons to experience this premium event on a personal level. It is still a mixed-drinks-inclusive event, but with a greater assortment of exotic mixes from Rum-Bar's newly released Vodka Line. We have also added food to this years VIP, catered by B&E Caterers," Luigi said.

Patrons will be charged $1500 presold, $2000 at the gate and $3000 for VIP. Tickets can be purchased at Loud Fashion (Bargain Mall, HWT), Cuddy'z (New Kingston) and Genus Pharmacy (Portmore).
