It seemed the contestants on Digicel Rising Stars needed a bit of reggae and dancehall to bring more oomph to the live show, as they certainly showed improvement on Sunday.

At the live show that was held at TVJ Studios in St Andrew, it was obvious from very early in the show that the contestants were going to do better with a more familiar theme of reggae and dancehall.

Young Kings had done poorly the previous week, but showed some improvement with Shaggy's It Wasn't Me. Asharie Maye was regal, according to Alaine, while Conroy Wilson was somewhat impressed by the fact that she showed more emotion.

More energy came from Travis Brown with Busy Signal's Watch Out Fi Dis that had the audience dancing. However, Anthony Miller said he was not pleased with the murder references.

"What was that really? Was that a performance or a workout routine? You have a vibe, you have confidence, but sing something else," Miller said.

Alaine and Wilson did not seem bothered by the song and said they liked his performance.

Kyann Knight took command of the stage with her reggae medley, but was a bit shaky in the beginning. "When you started off, I got goose pimples," Alaine said.

Knight was followed by T'Rizzy who also has a strong voice. Despite being chided for sounding fake in his first performance weeks ago, he seemed to win over the judges with Inner Circle's Sweat.

"So far, you are probably the best that I have seen. He's quite clear ... good song choice," Wilson said, while Alaine was impressed by his power and voice control.

From one decent performance to a weaker one, Lionel Williams started to lose points when he mixed up the words for Just Friends in the beginning of his set. While he did better towards the end, it was not enough to win over his audience.

Quan'I came after and looked stunning, according to Miller. The judges also liked her medley.

But it was Sarai-Lee Moodie who came with the surprises. Singing Tessanne Chin's Anything Is Possible, Moodie took control of the stage and received applause for her effort.

"You really performed tonight, and I am proud of you," Wilson said.

Miller added, "Something changed tonight. You dug deep and belted it out."

Ending the show on a strong note, JL remixed Chronixx's Here Comes Trouble, substituting 'soldiers' for 'supporters' and making the song fit his current position on the show. Having faced off with another contestant earlier in the show, he showed that Alaine made the right decision by allowing him to return to the show as her wildcard.

"Your creativity shone. You rewrote Chronixx's song and did it well. You deserve to be here, that was a good performance," Alaine said.
