Reggae crooner D Major was a late call-up for the Grace Jerk Festival held at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York on Sunday, July 20, but in his case, it was a matter of better late than never, as the entertainer believes his appearance on the show proved to be a nice but unexpected boost to his career.

The Real Know Real singer performed before a crowd estimated to be about 15,000 and complemented performances from Maxi Priest, Etana and Mr Vegas.

According to him, things could not have gone better. "A lot of people got introduced to D Major and things went well," he said. "We have even got more shows arising from the performance."

He said his people have opened dialogue with a number of promoters who want him for future dates in the Big Apple and elsewhere. His performance also spurred interest with a number of selectors who featured his songs in nightclubs there during the week following the concert.

"Real Know Real and a number of other songs from his latest album, Its Major, were being played in the clubs all week," he said.

This welcome boost comes at a time when the entertainer is preparing to shoot two videos over the next month for No More Distance, his collaboration with Busy Signal; and Naked. He expects the respective projects to be done by the end of August by which time he should be ready to depart for a series of shows in Europe.

"I will be based in Germany, but there are performances lined up in Finland, Italy and Portugual," he said.

Its Major, released earlier this year, has been doing well in two of the main reggae markets along the US East Coast. It is No. 7 on the Reggae Charts in Miami and number six in New York.
