Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Commendations are in order for a licensed firearm holder who engaged two robbers on Monday after they stole a woman's cellular phone.

Reports are that about 5:30 p.m., the complainant was along Lady Musgrave Avenue, St Andrew, when she was held up and robbed of a cellular phone by a man armed with a knife. The robber went on to a waiting motor cycle .

A licensed firearm holder observed what had taken place and chased the robbers on to the nearby Hopefield Avenue.

It is alleged one of the robbers brandished a firearm. The man then fired shots from his licensed firearm at the men and the bike crashed at the intersection of Hopefield Avenue and Hope Road.

It is revealed that the man with the gun managed to escape, while the other was chased and held.

The knife he used in the robbery as well as the cellular phone he stole were found in his possession.

He is now facing a charge of robbery with aggravation and a search is on for his accomplice.
