Star Tell Me Pastor

Begging forgiveness for child neglect
Dear Pastor,

I have a problem that is bothering me. I must say that you are doing a marvellous job. I am 34 years old. I have one child. He is 15. I could not find his father after I got pregnant. I knew his brother but his brother did not want to give me the address of my child's father. He was afraid that I would cause trouble because his brother was married.

A few years after, his brother's wife died so he came and was trying to ask my forgiveness but I had nothing to do with him. He never got married again. Would you believe that this man has now come back to me after all these years and he is still asking me to forgive him and to marry him? My son is elated but I am still reluctant.

At present I don't have a man in my life. Not that I haven't had any since my son was born. But I have spent my time in my church and if the guys who came around me were not serious, I did not take them on. My child's father is willing to come to church and for us to get married. What am I to do? He tells me that everybody deserves a second chance. He is dying for me to make up my mind. Do you think that I should marry this man?

E.S

Dear E.S.,

Your son would like to see you happy and would be glad also to have the father he never knew very well.

However, I believe that his brother could have treated you better by giving you the information that you needed to know 15 years ago.

Some folks may say that that is water under the bridge and what is in the past is in the past. So, if you want to look at it that way, you may consider forgiving this man and marrying him.
