Bubbling Angeline too hot to handle
Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

Bubbling Angeline

BUBBLING ANGELINE carrying 50 kilos in tomorrow's Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission open allowance feature should hand the Philip Feanny-trained filly her second straight win among older horses.

The chestnut filly left the classic trail empty-handed, placing third in the 1000 Guineas, second in the Oaks and fourth in the Governor's Cup before blowing away non-winners of an overnight allowance mid-June.

Though she didn't beat open overnight allowance horses last month, BUBBLING ANGELINE has everything in her favour to beat open allowance, essentially two classes higher.

stablemate

Distance, handicaps and a perfect draw favour Feanny's runner against her main rival and stablemate, EL PODEROSO.

Speedy BUBBLING ANGELINE returns with 50 kilos, the same weight she carried and clocked 1:19.3 at 1300 metres last month. Carrying 50.0 kilos at 1100 metres, she can afford to either stalk or dictate the pace before going into overdrive.

Drawn widest in the eight-horse field is also a distinct advantage as her speed should have her circling horses, unimpeded, heading to the half mile.

EL PODEROSO is too heavy at 57 kilos, breaking from post-position one, to keep pace along the rail and fire up the lane when the real race gets going.

SUNLIGHT EXPRESS is enjoying the form of his life and eyeing four consecutive wins. He lasted home from PISCEAN ROCKET at 1000 metres straight last Saturday and returns light, about 48 kilos, with claiming apprentice Sadiki Blake.

limitations

However, he will have EL PODEROSO, SIR VON, LADY LIKE and BUBBLING ANGELINE to jostle heading to the half mile, which should expose his limitations up in class.

SIR VON was an 11-1 shocker, beating PISCEAN ROCKET at 1000 metres straight almost two weeks ago. The United States-bred seven-year-old is rounding into form but has 54.0 kilos, nine pounds heavier than three-year-old BUBBLING ANGELINE.

Percy Williams has been filling the role of lightweight stable jockey at Feanny's barn. He is a good judge of pace and should time BUBBLING ANGELINE's run well enough for her to have reserves in the tank when run-on horses HOVER CRAFT and BORDER LINE get rolling up the lane.

ENHANCE PROSPERITY, NEW KINGSTON, BLUE BOMBER BOY and GREATER GLORY are enjoying good form and are horses to be on in the second to fifth race, respectively.
