Captain Raewin Senior believes Jamaica should have done better in the West Indies Under-15 Championship.

The Jamaicans, playing at home for the second time, went down by 11 runs to Guyana yesterday at Melbourne Oval in the final round.

Jamaica's loss meant Guyana put claim to the title, and ending a long title drought.

Guyana, after winning the toss and electing to bat, made 248 off their 50 overs before returning to limit Jamaica to 237 off their equivalent.

"It's a tough loss, but in the end, I guess you can say Guyana deserved to win," said Senior, whose 113 was not enough to take Jamaica across the time.

"I don't think that the overall results show our true potential as team, but in the end, we were not consistent enough," he added.

Jamaica finished with a record of two wins and three defeats for the duration of the two-week tournament.

They defeated Barbados and the Leeward Islands in their first and third matches, respectively, with their other defeats coming at the hands of the Windwards and dethroned champions Trinidad and Tobago.

Jamaica also had the distinction of sporting the most centurions, three.

Top order batsmen Dominik Samuels and Kirk McKenzie were the other Jamaicans to past triple figures.

"There were a lot of positives we can take from the tournament, including players scoring hundreds," Senior said.

"But we really wanted the trophy, and are sad that we did not get it."
