JPS customers to see a reduction in August bill

JPS customers will see a marginal decrease in their bills this month as a result of a lower Fuel & Independent Power Producer (IPP) charge.

The Fuel & IPP charge on August bills is $25.795 per kilowatt-hour (kwh), compared to $27.546 per kwh in July. This means that a residential customer, who consistently uses 165 kwh, will see a reduction of approximately 4.19 per cent in his or her bill this month. This customers' bill will move from $6,641.88 in July to $6,363.58 in August.

The Fuel & IPP Charge on bills is determined primarily by the cost of the fuel used to generate electricity each month.

Despite the downward movement in the Fuel & IPP Charge on bills this month, JPS is urging customers to remain vigilant in their conservation efforts. The Fuel & IPP Charge currently accounts for between 60 to 70 per cent of electricity bills.
