Jockey Oneil Mullings, who was injured in a four-horse spill in the 10th and final race at Caymanas Park last Saturday, was hospitalised for a sixth day in the Spanish Town Hospital yesterday following the result of a CAT scan on Wednesday.

Muillings, 38, injured his neck and fractured his right foot as a result of the fall from THORNHILL LAD approaching the home turn, this triggering a chain reaction which saw the three other horses losing their riders in the spill.

According to Jamaica Racing Commission's Welfare Officer Ina Lawrence, who visited the jockey yesterday, the scan revealed that Mullings, who has been wearing a neck brace, will now require neck surgery, hence his extended stay in hospital.

Apprentice O'Brien White, one of the other riders involved in the spill when his mount RULES OF THE CAT was brought down, was treated at the Spanish Town Hospital for minor back injuries on Saturday evening and was kept overnight for observation before being sent home on Sunday. The others jockeys involved in the spill - Aaron Chatrie and Delroy Beharie - escaped injury.

Mullings has been involved in spills on the track in the past, but his most serious injury came in a near fatal motor-vehicle accident four years ago. which sidelined him for over a year.
