It is a rare thing indeed when a music producer is able to conceptualise a rhythm project that reflects the tenor and vibe of a particular moment time in dancehall, but Justus Arison, the brilliant beatmaker of JA Productions, has done just that with his High Life rhythm.

The ice cream-smooth rhythm is already providing the backdrop for party events and street dances all over the Corporate Area because of the great mix of heavyweight acts and superstars that make it to watch in the last quarter of 2014 and beyond.

Dancehall superstar Mavado leads out the project with High Life, where he boasts about his international weed-smoking credentials which criss-crosse time zones and continents. He drops a brilliant R&B-influenced hook where he bleeds all over the track with his love for Mary Jane.

Red-hot dancehall act Ishawna has the breakout hit on the rhythm with the emotionally charged Restraining Order, which seems to have taken a life of its own because of its delicious subtext and real-life references to the end of her high-profile relationship with popular selector Foota Hype. The streets are buzzing with rumours about the fallout of the stormy relationship, and it appears to have fuelled this song's popularity on mixtape and radio. Dancehall star QQ delivers a sweet-sounding soca-flavoured hook with Find It, but it is Beenie Man who arguably delivers the best song on the rhythm Million Gal. Beenie returns to his gallis roots as he name-drops Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Katey Perry, and outlines his gallis credentials.

Gyptian complements the rhythm perfectly with All on Me. Blak Ryno channels his inner Sean Kingston (Make up Your Mind) as he expresses his love for his Side Chick, while Singer J, one of the best dancehall vocalists ever, shows off the incredible range of his voice on Your Love. Chi Ching brings his humour and street credentials to Up, Mr Lexx impresses with Do Road, while Munga teams up with producer Justus Arison himself for I Life.
