Man killed in domestic dispute

An alleged row between a father and and the fiancé of his child's mother has left one St Thomas man dead and the father in police custody facing a murder charge.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Carlos Hewitt of a Botany Bay address. near White Horses when the incident took place.

Hewitt's death is the second in the parish, days after the police in the parish reported reduction in murder.

Since the start of the year, the police in St Thomas recorded seven murders, 13 less than the corresponding period last year.

In this latest murder, reports reaching The Star are that Hewitt was accompanying the child of his fiancé along the White Horses main road on the weekend when they were accosted by the child's father.

It alleged that the child's father objected to the way in which the stepfather was speaking to his son and a row developed between the men. During the confrontation, the police theorise that a knife was used to inflicted stab wounds to the abdomen and forehead of Hewitt

The wounded man was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The Morant Bay police are investigating.
