Two killed in motor vehicle collisions

Two people are dead following two motor vehicle collisions between Monday and yesterday in the western end of the island.

In the latest incident, Orett Hylton of Burnt Savannah, Lacovia in St Elizabeth, died on the Woolery main road in the parish yesterday.

The Santa Cruz police said about 9:45 a.m., Hylton was driving a Toyota Corolla motor car along the main road with a male passenger, when he collided with a Toyota Mark X motor car travelling in the opposite direction.

All three men received multiple injuries and were taken to hospital where Hylton died while undergoing treatment. The other two were hospitalised.

Meanwhile, Jermaine Gooden of Springfield, St James, died yesterday following a collision along the Rose Hall main road on Monday.

The Coral Gardens police said about 2 p.m., Gooden was driving a Suzuki Baleno motor car along the road when the driver of a Toyota Hiace motor truck allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with the Baleno.

Both men were taken to hospital where the Hiace driver was reportedly treated and released. Gooden died yesterday, while undergoing treatment.
