our shot on King Street Saturday afternoon

Up to late last night, three of four people who were shot and injured by gunmen along King Street in the capital city on Saturday, remain in hospital in stable condition.

The police's Corporate Communications Unit, the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, reports that about 4:20 p.m., two armed men on a Jamco motor bike opened fire on three males and a female as they stood along King Street.

It is reported that following the attack, the gunmen sped along the roadway, but were intercepted by the police.

The gunmen reportedly engaged the lawmen in a gun battle before escaping. They, however, left behind a Taurus 9-millimetre pistol and five 9-millimetre rounds of ammunition.

Police said the four injured persons were taken to hospital where the female was treated and released and the others admitted in stable condition.
