Crooks in St Thomas continue their rampage on churches in that parish, with the last robbery occurring recently, when more than $600,000 in electronic equipment was stolen from a place of worship.

Reports reaching The Star are that the latest church to become prey to the robbers is the New Hope Assembly in Yallahs. It is understood that the crooks ripped through a grille from a window leading to a bathroom and then forced their way into the church.

During their rampage, they looted the house of God of amplifiers, a mixing board, equalisers, speaker boxes and wall fans.

The Yallahs police, who are investigating the sixth looting of a church in the parish since the start of the year, are yet to apprehend anyone.

Other churches in St Thomas robbed include the Seventh-day Adventist Church in White Horses, the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in White Horses, the Morant Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Lyssons Church of God in Christ.

Detectives at the Morant Bay CIB say the attack on the churches is becoming a prominent occurrence in St Thomas, in which audio equipment is stolen, as they can be sold easily to sound system operators, as well as used in car sound systems

In July, Acting Superintendent Charmaine Shand reported significant break-ins in the parish, especially of churches, are of major concern to the police.
