Man on molestation rap gets bail

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine man who impregnated a 15-year-old girl was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday.

When the case was mentioned, attorney-at-law Lancelot Clarke made a successful bail application.

He told the court that his client had no previous conviction, had a fixed address, and would honour his court obligations.

Bail was granted on condition that he keeps away from the complainant and reports to the Spanish Town police twice weekly.

He is to reappear on October 7, when the matter will again be mentioned.

It's alleged that in May this year, the 21-year-old accused was said to have molested the child. The matter came to the fore after she became pregnant.
