Jamaica College's coach, Miquel Coley, warned his rivals yesterday that the defending champions will get much stronger after the Old Hope Road-based school scored a third straight win in Group G of the 2014 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup.

JC blanked Norman Manley High 3-0 at JC with goals from Ronaldo Brown in the 75th minute, captain Junior Flemmings (84th) and Sheldon McKay (90th).

"We have some key players yet to play, including Rafique Bryan, who is away. We have a good chance to retain the title, and I will take it game by game," Coley said.

Yesterday, JC squandered some good scoring chances which allowed Norman Manley to stay in the contest until late in the second half.

Norman Manley, meanwhile, failed to trouble JC's goalkeeper, Courtney Dowdie, who had little to do in the game. Shaquille Lewis, who scored a hat-trick in his team's previous game against Jonathan Grant last Friday, was well policed by JC's defenders.

"They (Norman Manley) matched us early, but we proved to be a better-conditioned team and scored three late goals," Coley, who is also a national senior men's assistant coach, told STAR Sports.

Meanwhile, Norman Manley's coach, Paul Edwards, admitted that JC were the fitter team.

"We have mostly first-time, young Manning Cup players in the squad. However, I'm expecting the team to qualify for the next stage. JC are in better condition than us, and it showed in the game," Edwards reasoned.
