I told them don't let Calabar drag us down

Hydel coach Donovan Hayles cautioned his team not to allow Calabar to drag them down, after knowing the Red Hills road team were in a tough situation, having dropped points in the previous round.

In the race to capture the spot for the LIME SUPER CUP Calabar dropped crucial points following a 1-1 draw with St Catherine. Hydel in the same round coasted to a 14-0 win over bottom place Penwood. According to Hayles allowing complacency to set in was never on the cards.

"I told them about what I have seen as a coach and that we need to keep our feet on the ground, but I told them the game was going to be different," Hayles, said following the game.

"I told them it was a Calabar team that was desperate and needed to win. I gave them the example of a drowning man trying to save a drowning man, he will drag you under. Calabar were in a desperate situation we weren't going to come here with any complacency and allow them to draw us down."
