Court to decide if ... MOM KILLS SON FOR CELLPHONE

A 14-year-old boy is now dead, after he succumbed to injuries allegedly inflicted on him by his mother during a dispute about a cellular phone.

Answering to manslaughter charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court is 54-year-old Marion Davis of a Kingston 11, address.

According to the police report, on August 29 around 12:50 p.m., the accused and her now deceased son had a dispute over a cellular phone. It is alleged deceased teen's brother, who is also the son of the accused intervened. During the dispute, the deceased was beaten and was crying for severe pain.

He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, (KPH) where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Davis' attorney argued that the teen was suffering from a tumour. However Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey stated, "I want to know what is the cause of death."

The mother of 11 children is to return to court for mention on September 26, when the post mortem will be presented. She was remanded into custody.
