WESTERN BUREAU: A St James man accused of chopping his stepfather with a machete during a dispute. was remanded until September 24, following his appearance in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Forty-year-old construction worker Owen Headley, of a Montego Hills address, is charged with unlawful wounding, committed against Eric Tucker. He was remanded following a bail hearing on his behalf.

It is alleged that Headley and Tucker had an argument, during which Headley used a machete to chop the complainant on the back of the neck. Tucker then fell and hit his head, sustaining head injuries as a result. However, the court was not told when the incident took place.

In making a bail application on Friday, Headley's attorney, Martyn Thomas, admitted that his client did not have a separate address to which he could relocate, and that Headley and Tucker resided at the same address in Montego Hills.

"He (Headley) does admit that he resides in the same community, but outside of the dwelling (at their address), he really has no place to go," Thomas told presiding magistrate Carolyn Tie.

"What I am minded to do is to set this matter for a date next week and see if there can be some kind of intervention," Tie replied.

Headley was subsequently remanded and his case was set for mention on September 24.
