An elderly man, who was allegedly found with an illegal firearm and ammunition, is to appear in the Balaclava Resident Magistrate's Court today.

Eighty-four year old Bertie Griffiths of a St Elizabeth address has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

It is reported that on September 18, about 10 a.m., during a routine search of attendants to the court, Griffiths was stopped and searched and a .22 revolver and a 9mm cartridge was found on his person. It is believed that Griffiths was at court for an unlawful wounding charge.
