Group B leaders Charlie Smith High ran out easy 5-1 winners over Mona High in their rescheduled ISSA/LIME Manning Cup match-up yesterday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Arnett Gardens. Kimani Arbouine delighted the home supporters with his allround play. He scored twice in two minutes (37th and 38th) and provided the passes for another two goals.

Arbouine told STAR Sports that he was pleased with his performance. "I am happy with my goals and assists. It felt good playing, I want to continue the good form and win," he added. Odane Samuels netted Charlie Smith's third goal in the 46th minute but appeared to take their foot off the gas and Kristoffe Coombs pulled a goal back for Mona in the 48th minute.

Stung by the setback, Charlie Charlie Smith replied ten minutes later when Anthony Scott scored before Chevon Crooks rounded out the 5-1 scoreline in the 78th. Coach of Charlie Smith, Jerome Waite, was less than impressed and described the win as 'workmanlike.'

"It wasn't our best performance, but we did enough to win. My boys looked jaded, some are still out because of illness (Chikungunya virus). From here we are looking forward to the Excelsior match here (Anthony Spaulding Complex) on Saturday. I hope we have every player fit so we can beat Excelsior," Waite said. Meanwhile Mona's coach, Cornel Spence, blamed his team's loss on poor defending.

"We conceded some soft goals. We have a young side with players mainly from the Under-16 competition, so it's a learning process for us," Spence explained.
