Another J'can impresses on the Voice

Anita Antoinette

Just over a year, ago Jamaica's songbird Tessanne Chin blew judges away with her rendition of Pink's 'Try' when she auditioned for the fifth season of NBC's The Voice.

That performance gave her a four-chair turner and marked the beginning of new things for the entertainer. A year later, another Jamaican has entered the singing competition and has made such an impression, she is now poised to make it all the way to the top.

Though she migrated to the United States at the age of eight, Anita Antoinette made it known that she was of Jamaican descent during her blind auditions on Monday night. After a failed attempt in season three, Antoinette returned to the Voice stage with a vengeance. Her rendition of Bob Marley and Lauren Hill's Turn Your Lights Down Low not only won the singer a spot on this season's show, but gained Antoinette a four-chair turner.

All the judges seemed to have fallen for the maturity in the voice of the Jamaican and put on a real battle to get her on their team. When the war ended, new judge Gwen Stefani came out victorious - becoming the one Antoinette selected to be her coach.

Season five winner of the Voice, Tessanne Chin wasted no time in congratulating her fellow Jamaican. Reaching out via Twitter, Chin said "@AnitAntoinette just got a chance to see your #BlindAudition !!! You represented beautifully !!! #OneLove #JamaicansOnTheVoice #Proud."

Also taking to Twitter to boast the newest addition to her team, Stefani posted "say hello to my Reggae goddess @anitantoinette! #BlindsContinue." Antoinette also used social media to express her gratitude in finally being able to say her audition song is available for downloads on iTunes.
