Bounty Killer, Agent Sasco and Merciless all found fame and fortune with their brand of hardcore, intense lyrics and stage craft.

Destraya, one of May Pen, Clarendon's upcoming artistes, is busy writing his name among the hardcores of dancehall's greats with his latest release, I Am Back.

"I am back and them fi know that. Music is all I know, and that's what I do," the self-declared hardcore lyricist warned in an interview with The Star.

Destraya, born Dwayne Nicholson, a past student of Denbigh High School, reasoned that music is his whole life, and after chasing that dream around Jamaica for a while, he is back in May Pen, where it all started. And with a number of new singles, he is ready to make his name in dancehall.

"My career has taken me to a number of parishes - St Catherine, Kingston and Portland - but now I am back in May Pen, under new management and with a renewed vigour to drive my career forward," he declared.

The deejay recalled that after graduating from high school, he went to live in Thompson Pen, Spanish Town, where he link up with fellow entertainer Lutan Fyah and recorded his first single, Try To Reach Me.

The song opened important doors in the music business for him, and before long he was getting the respect and hanging out with some of dancehall's greatest proponents, including the 'War Lord', Bounty Killer.

Destraya is now managed by Moore/Destraya Industry and has since recorded Money Train for Moby Records, I Am Back for Ricky Trooper and Ghetto Anthem for Danger One Production.
