'2-Y-O has nothing for me' - Man doubts child belongs to him

"She did deh wid one a me fren dem too," is the reason 31-year-old businessman Leroy Bennetthas doubts about the paternity of a two-year-old boy.

Bennett told THE STAR that about two and half years ago, he and 31-year-old registered nurse, Antoinette Garvey, entered into a relationship after she allegedly pursued him.

Bennett: "She send come call me and seh she like me and from deh suh me and her start talk."

Garvey told THE STAR however that it was he who initiated the relationship.

Garvey: "I was over my friend and he was passing and he stopped and we started a conversation and he would come to visit again and from there the relationship started."

THE STAR asked the pair how the doubts about the child's paternity surfaced and Garvey admitted that she is to be blamed.

Garvey: "When I was around two months pregnant, we had a dispute, I wasn't feeling him that much and he was abusive so it couldn't work out and I wanted him to leave me alone so I told him that it's not his."

Bennett: "She did deh wid one of me fren dem too. When she pregnant me leave har alone, she run me weh, she neva waa see me."

Although the child is registered in his name, Bennett doesn't believe he resembles him.

Bennett: "Him nuh have nuttin fi me, him brown and me dark."

Garvey on the other hand claims; "The child resembles his family, especially his sister."

Bennett's doubt is also widely known about in the community in which they live.

"The dispute happened on the street and other people heard, so they know and they tell him yes it's not his," Garvey said.

Bennett: "Yes they know, sometimes dem mouth me, seh me a mine me fren pickney, so is that mek me waa do the test too."

THE STAR asked the pair what they would like the DNA results to state.

Garvey: "It really doesn't matter what it says, no one has been there, from child birth til now, I've been coping and I feel like I can manage on my own, so it doesn't really matter to me, my child calls my boyfriend daddy."

Bennett: "I want it fi seh is my own, me dun inna him life already."
