Calabar High thrashed St Catherine High 4-0 at Calabar yesterday to remain in contention for a spot in the next stage of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup.

Both schools entered the Group F contest with the knowledge that only a win would keep them in contention for the second round.

With that in mind, the home team got off to a wonderful start with two goals inside the first three minutes. Devaughn Gordon sent his team in the lead when he netted in the second minute. Then a minute (3rd) later, Jahwani Hinds made it 2-0. An own goal in the 71st minute and another from substitute Mario Sailsman in injury time completed the scoring for Calabar.

With yesterday's win, Calabar moved to 16 points, four behind group leaders Hydel.

Calabar's coach, Bradley Stewart, was pleased with the performance of the team.

aggressive mood

"We started in an aggressive mood and ended in that manner today. They (Calabar) came out and played well," Stewart said.

"We had three senior players on the bench, and to introduce young players and win is good. We are now looking forward to the game against Hydel this weekend," the veteran coach added.
