Campbell top-scores for Bernard Jr XI

Jon Ross Campbell

Opener Jon Ross Campbell hit a top score of 82 not out to lead Bernard Jr XI to a six-wicket win over Tamar Lambert's XI during the first of three regional 50-overs trial matches at Sabina Park yesterday.

Lambert XI first made 157, off 45.3 overs, before Bernard Jr XI replied with 158 for four.

Campbell, who played two matches for Jamaica during the regional four-day tournament last year, and made 34 and one at home to Barbados, and 31 and 11 away to Trinidad and Tobago, got good support from young middle-order batsman, Cassius Burton.

Shacoya Thomas, who had a standout four-day season last year where he finished second in the batting aggregate behind Jermaine Blackwood, made 14, and André McCarthy, recovering from the chikungunya virus, scored nine.

Former West Indies Under-19 fast bowler, Marquino Mindley claimed three for 49.
