Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine man, who is accused of being among three who beat a man he allegedly caught with his girlfriend, had his bail extended in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

He is Everton Shepherd of St Johns Road in Spanish Town.

There was laughter in the court room when the case was mentioned.

"Your honour, is because I'm see mi and him girlfriend why him gang me maam," the complainant said.

Allegations are that on September 12, Shepherd returned home unexpectedly. He reportedly overheard strange sounds coming from his room.

The court heard that when he rushed inside, he saw the complainant and his girlfriend in a compromising position.

The complainant reportedly fled, the court heard, but the following day, he was accosted by Shepherd and two others. The complainant's hands were bound, the court further heard, and he was stabbed, kicked and boxed repeatedly.

A report was made to the police and Shepherd was subsequently charged with unlawful wounding.

He is to return to court on January 13, next year.
